Soundcraft's SI3

Great thanks to E&E for inviting us down for a demo by Soundcraft!

Setup in the room was Soundcraft's Vi4 and Si3. Both of which were built to target the same application and market. Last year's IGNITE! Music Festival 2008, we had the opportunity to have the Vi4 as our FOH console. Although we never had a chance to touch any of Soundcraft's digital babies, the workflow was so simple that the techs mastered within a couple of days fooling with it.

Now, Vi4 has got the Si3 for company. Just launched late last year, Si3 is a simple 'multi-tool' with no-frills to boot.

Here is one of very few digital boards without a graphical representation for your parametric EQs. I like it this way a lot more as you're forced to use your ears more than your eyes.
Something I can't figure out is why only 8 analog insert points when you have 64 channels on board? Is is a design limitation?
